- NEW DELHI: Chinese telecom gear maker Huawei Thursday unveiled X Labs to facilitate research in wireless technologies with application-centric networks for three key segments.X Labs is a new research platform that will bring together operators, technology providers, and vertical industry partners, Huawei rotating chief executive Ken Hu in a statement said Thursday.Three unprecedented development opportunities, according to Hu await telecom operators in video, household, and vertical markets.The announcement comes at a seventh-annual Mobile Broadband Forum (MBBF), jointly hosted by Huawei, industry group GSMA in Tokyo."At Huawei, we aim to support and enable the mobile ecosystem.We have made a lot of progress, and we want to do more," Huwaei top executive added.The Chinese teleocm major also plans to jointly explore mobile applications and drive innovation in business and technology with an open industry ecosystem.X Labs is a research platform designed to explore three separate areas of mobile communications— people, verticals, and household with mLab, vLab and hLab.The mLab or mobile user experience lab, according to the company will focus on how to create an immersive user experience in emerging mobile applications like video, live streaming, VR and AR.

- GMBBF2016 Huawei rotating co-CEO Ken Hu today announced the company's new X Labs initiative, which is aimed at helping stimulate the inevitable "ecosystem" for the wireless comms market.The spinning top man - a one-time chief marketing and innovation officer for the Chinese tech firm - introduced the initiative in his opening speech at Huawei's Global Mobile Broadband Forum being held in Tokyo.X Labs is split into three streams: mLab, for consumer-focused apps and tech; hLab, for home wireless networking ideas; vlab, for industry verticals; and XICs (X Labs Innovation Centres) for "collaboration with industry partners".
