Huawei Australia has appointed Meng Xiaojie as its new chief executive, following the departure of outgoing chief Zhao Xichu. He was most recently chief executive of Huawei Pakistan, responsible for day-to-day business operations and leading the local carrier, enterprise and consumer teams. Huawei Australia chairman John Lord said he was excited to see Meng take on the role, and thanked Zhao for his contribution to the business. Meng started with Huawei in 2005 and has held various senior roles with the vendor in different regions. "Australia is a very competitive market, but has strong growth opportunities for us in the carrier and enterprise sectors.

Meng Xiaojie has been appointed CEO of Huawei Australian operations, taking over from Zhao Xichu as part of the company's global practice of rotating senior staff. Huawei will continue to focus on brand awareness, especially as the group launches a new smartphone and smart watch this year in Australia, Mr Meng said. Under Mr Xichu's leadership over the past three years, Huawei Australia increased revenue to $674 million, with an average annual growth rate of 19 per cent. Mr Meng said Australia's telecommunications market is very competitive but offers "strong growth opportunities" in the carrier and corporate markets.

Meng will undertake his role as Huawei Australia CEO immediately. Huawei Australia has appointed Meng Xiaojie (Aragon) as CEO. In 2011 MMeng was promoted to a global position as global sales account director for Vodafone. Meng will assume the role from outgoing CEO, Zhao Xichu (James), who has held the position since February 2014. Zhao has taken Huawei Australia's sales revenue to AU $674 million, with an average annual growth rate of 19 per cent.
