Huawei might release a foldable smartphone next year

Speaking to CNET, the CEO of Huawei's consumer group, Richard Yu confirmed which the firm is currently working on a foldable phone. Though it is currently working on the device, it's not yet availiable for release. In addition to a foldable phone, Yu has his sights set on Samsung and Apple. Currently, Huawei smartphone sits as the number 3 phone-maker in the world, but it's not getting complacent. The firm recently announced the Huawei smartphone Mate 10, Mate 10 Pro and Mate 10 Porsche Design in an effort to do just that.

But now, Huawei, which recently announced the Mate 10 smartphone series, is working on its own version of a foldable phone. If true, it could be announced around the same time as Samsung's much-rumoured Galaxy X foldable phone. Keep in mind ZTE plans to launch the Axon M foldable smartphone via AT&T in the coming months. Samsung's upcoming smartphone is supposed to have a single foldable display with no hinge, and Huawei smartphone hopes to achieve the same thing as well. Currently, Yu said, Huawei's foldable smartphone has 2 screens with a "small gap" among them.
