Huawei Watch 2 Pro takes on China

In addition to featuring Baidu's voice assistant, the watch supports contactless payments via Huawei smartphone Pay, Alipay and WeChat Pay. Huawei is likely banking on targeting the Chinese market to help the firm lead the overall wearables market. In Q2 2017, Huawei, the third largest smartphone vendor globally, increased its lead over the Chinese smartphone market, making up more than 20% of shipments in China, up 20% year-over-year. Huawei, however, may be best positioned than Apple to find success in the Chinese market.

Huawei Watch 2 Pro Is First eSIM Android Wear Smartwatch

HuaweiGreat break news - there's this time an eSIM-packing Android Wear smartwatch to go toe-to-toe with the Apple Watch Series 3. The Huawei smartphone Watch 2 Pro, announced alongside the Huawei smartphone Mate 10 and Mate 10 Pro at the end of last week, does point towards a brighter Android Wear cellular future though; 1 without fiddly nano-SIM slots. As it's China based it'll be running Android Wear 2.0 for China, which differs slightly from the major Google wearable OS. Users could add a virtual cell number to their Apple Watch Series 3 - this is the same number they use for their iPhone - and then use their Apple Watch untethered from a handset. Previous Android Wear smartwatches such as the LG Watch Sport and the original Huawei smartphone Watch 2 both allow for tether-free action like that, but required a consumer to put in an additional, physical SIM card.
