In Australia, Huawei smartphone too conducted a series of NB-IoT technology trials across Melbourne last year in partnership with Vodafone, which has since launched the network. The networking giant has additionally been working on fitting out Weifang, China with its NB-IoT Intelligent city applications and OceanConnect IoT platform, in September announcing the launch of a demo Intelligent city there.
MTN, Huawei smartphone launch connected driver IoT solution
MTN Business and Huawei smartphone have launched a usage-based product for insuring drivers. The product monitors and assesses driver behaviour and is meant to motivate best driving, MTN said. "Usage-based insurance is a great opportunity for alternative revenue growth for telecommunications operators," says Huawei smartphone regional IoT director Zhu Ming. The MTN and Huawei smartphone insurance partnership is based on a revenue-share model and is the basis for a broader connected car solution, the companies said. MTN says it has already trialled the solution with several insurance companies, but didn't name them.
