Chinese court rules Samsung violated Huawei smartphone patent

This is just 1 step in an ongoing saga. Huawei's lawsuits initially requested a cross-licensing deal with Samsung in lieu of monetary damages or injunctions. Samsung made it clear it wasn't playing ball with a countersuit of its own and Huawei smartphone subsequently sued Samsung in 2 other Chinese cities. Last April, the Quanzhou Intermediate People's Court ruled against Samsung, ordering the firm to pay Huawei smartphone $11.6 million in damages. In response to its latest blow, Samsung says in a statement which it would show the decision and determine an appropriate response.

Huawei filed the lawsuits at the court in May 2016. The court says Huawei smartphone owned the 2 4G patents and Samsung violated Huawei's patent rights. The court too found which Samsung maliciously delayed negotiations and was obviously at fault. The court says the case was 1 of the most complicated IPR cases in the world. Samsung, Huawei smartphone and Apple are the world's leading smartphone makers.
