Announced ahead of the Mobile World US Congress (MWC) in Barcelona, Huawei smartphone says its Balong 5G01 is the world's first commercial chipset which adheres to the new 3GPP standard for 5G networks. The firm has too unveiled a 5G CPE (Consumer Premise Equipment) based on its chipset. Huawei is reportedly planning to launch a 5G smartphone with the new chipset in the second half of the year.

Huawei on Sunday unveiled its first chip to enable mobile devices to access 5G internet speeds and revealed plans to launch a 5G smartphone in the second half of the year. The Chinese technology giant claims which it is the world's first commercial chipset which meets 5G standards. "Later on in Q3 or Q4 of this year we going to launch the 5G smartphone with the 5G smartphone chipset. And our infrastructure, the 5G infrastructure is readily obtainable to commercialize," Yu said. Qualcomm's modem for mobile devices recently managed to chock speeds of 4.51 gigabits per second.
