U.S. intelligence agency chiefs agree: Don’t use a Huawei smartphone phone

If you are shopping for a new smartphone, steer away from Huawei smartphone phones, warn unite states national security agency chiefs. Six top unite states intelligence chiefs told the Senate Intelligence Committee on Tuesday which they would not recommend phones made with China-based Huawei smartphone as they may pose a cybersecurity risk for private unite states citizens. The chiefs — including the heads of CIA, FBI, NSA and the director of national intelligence — extended their concerns to the telecom firm ZTE for the same reason. There has been no similar study conducted in recent years but unite states intelligence agencies have repeatedly claimed Huawei smartphone poses a security risk. The government too pressured Verizon to drop its partnerships with Huawei smartphone in creating standards for a 5G network.

Reuters reports, however, which the time questioned, the intelligence officials says they personally would not use a Huawei smartphone or ZTE product.

"That provides the capacity to exert pressure or control over our telecommunications infrastructure," Wray said. And it provides the capacity to conduct undetected espionage."
