Huawei partners with UC Berkeley to develop AI
Huawei had decided to enter into a partnership with the University of California, Berkeley, in order to develop and apply artificial intelligence (AI) to our daily lives.Noah's Ark Laboratory, the company's research unit that specializes in the development of machine learning, AI and data mining, is responsible for setting up the partnership between it and the university.Huawei's AI researchers will be collaborating with those from UC Berkeley's new Artificial Intelligence Research lab.
Huawei and UC Berkeley forge basic AI research alliance
Huawei has pumped $1 million in funding into a basic research partnership with the University of California in Berkeley with the goal of advancing artificial intelligence. The partnership will bring together Huawei's AI researchers and the Berkeley Artificial Intelligence Research Lab to collaborate across machine learning, computer vision, natural language processing, deep learning, and robotics. The goal is to put those AI concepts into real-world application and develop key technologies out of theoretical models.
Huawei puts $1M into a new AI research partnership with UC Berkeley

Artificial intelligence continues to have its moment in the spotlight, with a surge of interest in startups and efforts from huge tech companies to push the boundaries of how we might best use machine learning, computer vision and other areas of AI in the future. The latest development on that front comes from China's Huawei, which today announced that it would form a research partnership with UC Berkeley focused on AI, and fund it to the initial tune of $1 million. The alliance, between Huawei's Noah's Ark Laboratory and Berkeley Artificial Intelligence Research (BAIR), is being billed as a "strategic partnership into basic research", and it will cover areas like deep learning, reinforcement learning, machine learning, natural language processing and computer vision.
