Huawei will auction off one Porsche Design Mate 9 for Tour de CureAlex Kidman 8 February 2017Bid now to own a rather exclusive Huawei handset. When we reviewed the Huawei Mate 9, we commented that one of the downsides was that there was no way to officially buy the even-more-powerful Porsche Design variant of the phone locally. For your money you get all the goodness of the Mate 9 but with Porsche Design style as well as a 1440x2560 pixel screen, compared to the regular 1080p display on the standard Mate 9. The auction is in an effort to raise funds for Tour de Cure, with all proceeds going to charity. The auction will take place at World Square, Sydney on Friday 10 February at 12:30pm, NSW time, but you can also bid online at this link.

Most interestingly, Huawei claims that the Mate 9's performance won't deteriorate over time, like so many other devices are prone to do. The Mate 9 is a beast of a phone that, were it still around to fight its corner, would have given the Galaxy Note 7 a run for its money. It has a 5.9-inch screen and a whopping (and especially safeguarded) 4,000mAh battery, with a rear-mounted fingerprint sensor and a 20 megapixel, Leica-branded dual-camera system.
